Dockery's signing is bigger than Haynesworth
The Washington Redskins continued their aggressive pursuit of free agents they believe will aid them next season with the late night signing of Derrick Dockery. Dockery was a Redskin prior to taking big free agent bucks to go to the Buffalo Bills.

One guy that was very happy to see "Big-Dock" return was All-Pro left Tackle Chris Samuels. The Redskins were a top 5 defense last season without Albert Haynesworth but the offense sputtered all season so Dockery's signing will likely have a larger impact on the Redskins fortunes this upcoming season than the recent acquisition of All-Pro Defensive Tackle, Albert Haynesworth. With this signing the Redskins solidified the left side of the offensive line. They could still use a mauler at right guard and a legitimate starter at right tackle.

How the Redskins got Dockery back into the fold is particularly interesting. It appears that Buffalo had already worked out a trade with Detroit but Buffalo failed to file the proper paperwork so Dockery became a free agent instead. Dockery visited Detroit but in the end he decided to come home to Redskin Nation.

No one will ever say that the Redskins are not aggressive in free agency. The key is are they making the right decisions? If you look at how the Skins are addressing their needs I have to give Dan Snyder good marks thus far. They addressed the biggest need of D-line help with Haynesworth, they addressed the need of a big bruiser guard with Dockery and they addressed the need for a shutdown corner to replace aging and oft-injured Shawn Springs with DeAngelo Hall. You have to give the Skins high marks for aggressively addressing their needs. Dockery's signing gives the Skins freedom to pursue other needs in the draft.
