You think success rubs off.....think again.

The NFL is proves it is a "what have you done for me lately" league. Case in point are the coaches and front office gurus that left the New England Patriots organization thinking they can duplicate the success elsewhere. A simple search of their records outside of New England tells a bitter truth about New England Disciples.

1. Bill Belichick - (153-90-0) A very good coach but his record will be forever stained outside of New England for cheating the game of football multiple times. Prior to Belichick landing in New England he failed miserably in Cleveland but had some success with Bill Parcells in NY.

2. Charlie Weis - (29-21) A hotshot Offensive Coordinator that was snatched up by Notre Dame University in the hope that he could turn that program around. Lets just say that the results thus far have been far less than spectacular. Weis could sure use Tom Brady and some Video tapes now. I'm still trying to figure out how Weis was an upgrade from Tyrone Willingham who had a better record at this point.

3. Romeo Crennel - (24-40) A defensive coordinator supreme in New England that finally got his shot to be the head man in Cleveland. What did he do? Well his record and eventual firing speak volumes. Why is it that all Belichick disciples feel the need to fail in Cleveland at some point in their careers?

4. Eric Mangini - (23-26) Once called the "boy genius" by some, he looked anything but as the Head Coach of the NY Jets. His biggest notoriety came when he outed his former mentor, Belichick for taping opponents starting the spy-gate scandal. Now the boy genius will get another shot in Cleveland. Hopefully for him past performance is no indicator of future production.

5. Josh McDaniels - (0-0) All this rookie head coach has done is manage to tick off his young, very good, all-pro QB in less than 60 days. McDaniels is in for an earth shattering wake up call once he realizes he neither has the respect of his QB nor his team. If McDaniels had a record of success as a head coach somewhere else then his actions might blow over but he is a noob and they are gonna eat him alive in Denver.

6. Scott Pioli - was brought in to be the GM of the rebuilding Chiefs so the first thing he needed to do is find a Tom Brady. If Matt Cassell is the second coming then Pioli will look great but I've seen the Chiefs roster and lets just say Pioli will have a hard enough time just keeping Cassell healthy and upright.
I find it fascinating that NFL Owners are raiding the Patriots coaching staff when a simple check of the records shows anything but success. Perhaps it is not the coaches but the players that teams should be raiding.
