Random musings on sports and other subjects
By: Turner Sports Desk
1.
Michael Vick
plays again – It was good to see him back and I hope he uses this opportunity
to become a better man, a better parent and a better football player.
2.
GI Joe Rules
– Very good movie with lots of action and beautiful women. GI Joe ranks third behind Transformers 2 and
Terminator Salvation as my summer movie favorites.
3.
Fair and Square – Of course someone has already leaked out
word that South African runner; Caster Semenya had triple the level of testosterone
in her system. This does not mean she is man; it is just one of those oddities
of nature. Her accusers now have to come to grips with the fact that they got
smoked fair and square.
4.
They need Stills on that line – The Canadian Hockey team
tryouts are going on and they feature a first line of Crosby – Nash and Iginla.
Maybe Iginla should change his name to Stills so they can go on tour after the
games?
5.
Prediction:
Roddick wins the US Open – Roddick gained many new fans, me included after his
showing at Wimbledon. It is also nice to have an American male back in the
conversation of the world’s best tennis players.
6.
Jason
Campbell shines while Cutler falters – Both QB’s faced similar situations but
Campbell showed how an adult handles it versus the pouting baby actions of Jay
Cutler. If karma exists Campbell will be a pro-bowl caliber QB this year while
Cutler will be benched mid season and traded to Detroit for a ham sandwich. If
Wayne Gretzky can be traded…anyone can be traded.
7.
Baseball is
still boring – I gave baseball chance to win me over this spring-summer and it
is still boring as crap. The fact that they keep outing druggie-cheaters every
month did not help. Thank God football and hockey are almost back!
8.
Marshall
likely to move prior to season start – Brandon Marshall appears to be forcing
the Broncos hand with regard to his trade request. Marshall needs to know he is
only hurting himself by being unprofessional but the Denver front office has
done their part to alienate Marshall as well. Check out my blog on Marshall to
see where I think he may land.
9.
RIP Senator Ted
Kennedy – Say what you will about his demons or his political leanings but
Senator Kennedy always looked out for the regular Joe. I served as a
congressional aide a long time ago and was witness to the many things he did to
help people he did not know. America lost a real hero.
10.
Jerruh Jones
strikes again – Just when you thought the laughs were over Jerruh Jones builds
his “look at me” stadium and did not think about how his video screen might
effect the game. Given his luck the Cowboys will lose a playoff game due to
that video screen….I’m just sayin.
