Why I'm (secretly) rooting for Donavan McNabb

Lost in all of this Michael Vick talk is the fact that Donavan McNabb stepped forward and said let's do this because he can help this football team. That is the ultimate in unselfishness when you ask to bring in a guy that could eventually replace you. McNabb has been beat up by both the Philly press and the fans for so many years maybe he's numb to criticism? When all of this Vick signing stuff started to run wild I thought only a team with a stable QB situation would work and I did not place the Eagles in that category. Donavan McNabb has been rumored to be leaving Philly well, since he arrived. Philly fans even after all of his success are not as solid in their support as those of us outside of Eagles Nation think McNabb has earned.
In this country some wear their religion/faith as a badge of honor but those same people do not back up their beliefs with deeds. I have not seen much forgiveness, mercy and a willingness to move forward with regard to Michael Vick. I've always quietly rooted for the individual success of Donavan McNabb, frankly because he's earned it. I cannot imagine what being the QB of the Eagles must have been like for the past 10 years.
So this year I am 100% for my team but I have an extra 5% for McNabb. In an era of "me-centric" behavior McNabb showed us their are still some true team players. Many people talk the talk but Donavan McNabb is walking the walk and I applaud his courage especially in a town that is known neither for its patience nor its forgiveness.
