The Homer Simpson “doh”
Award – Leodis McKelvin for singlehandedly snatching defeat from the jaws
of victory. Just fall down kid….just fall down.
The we’re going to
win…oh wait, never mind award – The Cincinnati Bengals. This could only happen to the Bengals my
friends. The Buffalo Bills take second place in this event.
The where did my game
go award – Jake Delhomme was searching for his game the last time we saw
him during the playoffs. Apparently the search continues.
The objects in the
mirror are a lot closer than you think award – The Kansas City Chiefs
walked in to Baltimore and if not for a last minute blitz that missed would
have pimp slapped the big, bad Ravens in their house. That should raise
expectations in Chiefs nation. Honorable mention to the Buffalo Bills for scaring the crap out of Pats nation.
The bad luck award
– Chicago Bears and Brian Urlacher. Not only did you lose against your arch
rival but you lost your heart and soul on defense for the season.
The Billy Bad-Ass
Award – Adrian Peterson is a man playing among boys. The Cleveland Browns
are still feeling the effects of those wicked stiff arms and wind burns from
Peterson blowing by them. The honorable mention goes to Drew Brees who might have a 5000 yard, 60 TD season at his current pace.
The WTF Award –
The Carolina Panthers have to be wondering what hit them in the second quarter versus the Eagles.
Ask Delhomme he might have a clue. Honorable mention to the Bengals of course.
The annually
overrated award – The Houston Texans were picked by many to win their
division so all they do is get rolled like a joint at home by a rookie coach and
a true rookie QB. As Hancock would say…Good Job!
The “You didn’t hang
a 60-burger on us” award – The Detroit Lions hung in there with a very good
Saints Team. I predicted a 60-burger but the Saints fell short by 15 points.
Detroit actually played pretty well. In Detroit this is a small victory. Honorable mention goes to the Buffalo Bills. TSD predicted the Pats would hang a 50 burger on them.
The Statement Game Award
- The San Francisco 49er announced their return to respectability by going into
Arizona and treating the defending NFC champs like a wet food stamp. Honorable mention goes to the Falcons for beating a good Dolphins team and proving last year was no fluke.
The I should play the
lottery with my luck award – Brandon Stokley
The All Talk, No Walk
Award – The Washington Redskins. They are the champions of the off season
with elaborate signings and mega hype but until they increase the wins they
will remain a paper tiger in the NFC East.
