In my mind there are two possible outcomes when the Saints
play the Redskins on Sunday. The Saints will either hang a 60-burger their 3-8
opponents or the Redskins will pull off the biggest upset of the season thus
far. The Conditions are perfect for a Saints letdown/upset. They just beat down
the Pats, they have a short work week and they are playing a team they should
trounce easily. Despite the Redskins record they have definitely shown improved
play of late. In fact, if they could
have held on to a couple of 4th quarter leads they would be on a
2-game winning streak. I saw the energy the Saints expended in that Monday
night game and I do not believe any football team can remain that jacked up for
two weeks.
But wait…there’s more! Just when you thought the Redskins
season could not get any more interesting guess who’s coming to town next week?
While I am 100% positive Saints Defensive Coordinator Greg Williams harbors no
ill will towards the Redskin players I have no doubt Williams intends to make a
loud statement to both Dan Snyder and Vinny Cerrato who fired him and hired Jim
Zorn. Talk about Irony, Greg Williams comes back to DC sporting 11-0 versus
Zorn who essentially was fired a few weeks ago but was allowed to keep his
headset and look important.
On paper this game should not be aired because the United States has
outlawed torture. I guarantee the Redskins will bring their “A” game because they
have to know Greg Williams is coming to town with an agenda. So what would otherwise
be a cupcake game has more drama than a daytime soap opera. For you folks looking to make some X-mas coin on an upset special this game has all of the conditions for a major one.
