The moment the Redskins signed Donovan McNabb
I was excited for the team’s chances in the upcoming season but heartbroken for
Jason Campbell.
I believe the guy never really got a chance to shine due to circumstances
beyond his control. As expected Campbell has suitors like St. Louis, Buffalo, Jacksonville
and Carolina. I think Campbell’s best shot to start and grow would be in
Carolina. The Minnesota Vikings did express interest in Campbell before so they
could be the mystery team that is hiding below the radar should Favre decide to
hang it up.
Carolina has no Quarterbacks of note on their roster, they
have a decent offensive line and they are pretty set at the skill positions. Of
all the teams that might be vying for Campbell’s services Carolina seems to be
the best fit. Campbell’s numbers are pretty impressive and he would definitely
be a plus in anyone’s locker room. John Fox
should be interested if for no other reason that Campbell does not turn the
ball over.
There are some people you meet and you just root for and Jason
Campbell is one of those people. To borrow an old southern saying; “His momma raised him right”. He is a
decent human being, a true professional and a pretty good quarterback. While many might have soured on him as the Redskin QB, no one has said anything negative about his character or work ethic. He
earned the respect of not just his team but the league for taking a pounding
last year while still posting respectable numbers. How highly do the Redskins
still think of Campbell? Should he not find a starting job somewhere else he
will be welcomed back to the Redskins with open arms. No matter what happens
with Campbell he will always have fans in Washington.
