As I listen to this Tiger Woods press conference I see a guy
that has a two ton gorilla off of his back. He is looking reporters square in
the eye, addressing them by name and confessing his sins. This appears to be the same Tiger Woods that
took the golf world by storm at the beginning of his career. No matter what
happens to him now he is simply Tiger Woods the man that like everyone else is
flawed. The only difference is he had more money so his mistakes were on a
grander scale and made public.
So what happens now? Are the journalist that
claimed Tiger was avoiding them happy? According to Tiger he was greeted
warmly by both the crowds and his fellow golfers. Is anyone shocked by that? Will there be some
fans that yell something awful from the crowd for you name the reason? Of course,
but Americans are a forgiving lot. If a person steps forward and owns up to
their mistakes generally they are forgiven. Will Tiger have eternal haters? Absolutely,
because as we have seen some people can make a career based entirely off of
hate. What does this mean for Tiger? It means he is free to enjoy the game
again without having to lie or cover anything up anymore. The scary part is he
was hammering the field with the two ton gorilla on his back. It Is scary to
think of what he can do now as a free man both mentally and spiritually. All he
can do now is be the best man, father, husband and golfer he can be.
