Riggins a notable no-show for Russ Grimm’s Hall of Fame enshrinement

Washington Redskins Hall of Fame Running Back John Riggins
is known for marching to the beat of his own drum. Unfortunately neither John
nor his drum bothered to show up to honor one of the guys that helped Riggins win an NFL
Championship and get into the Hall of Fame. When last we checked Riggins was still
feuding with Redskins Owner, Daniel Snyder and not doing any appearances in which he is not
compensated. Now I am not one to
begrudge a man’s ability to make some coin based on the fame he earned but I
have to draw the line when it comes to the guys you went to battle with every
Sunday. Just picture Joe Montana going into the Hall of Fame and Jerry Rice is
not there or Emmitt Smith with Troy Aikman and Michael Irvin staying home.
Riggins should have swallowed his pride, called a truce with Daniel Snyder for a day in order to be on hand for his buddy Russ. I
am and will always remain a John Riggins fan but I am disappointed that he took
the selfish route. ESPN980’s Steve
Czaban called it "douche-baggery" and I am having a hard time disagreeing with
that assessment. What was Riggins
thinking? Or was he trying to march to the beat of his own drum again? Redskins
Nation wonders…
