The Shockers:
The Chief ambush the 49ers and remain unbeaten – After a
good performance in a loss to the Saints many believed the 49ers would expose
the Chiefs as an AFC West pretender. Turns out the Chiefs had other plans to
the tune of 3 passing TDs by Matt Cassell. The Chiefs defense is playing lights
out and this now becomes a team on the rise.
The Redskins go to 0-6 versus rookie QBs in loss to Rams –
Sam Bradford was not asked to be superman but he looked sharp, accurate and in
command as his Rams ripped the Redskins to break a 27 game losing streak at
home. The Redskins started the game spotting the Rams 14 points but rallied.
The Skins ran out of gas and the Rams pounded on the ground even without Steven
Jackson.
The Cowboys go into Houston and man-handle the Texans – The Texans
were supposed to show the Cowboys who the best team in Texas is. Apparently the
Cowboys did not get the memo. Much maligned Cowboys Wideout, Roy Williams had
his best game as a Cowboy and the boys pounded the Texans into submission.
The Titans take advantage of mistake prone G-men – The G-Men
commit 3 turnovers and the Titans are more than happy to take advantage. Eli
Manning threw for 386 yards but to no avail. Chris Johnson ran for 125 yards
and Vince Young did enough with 118 yards in the air and one TD.
Atlanta upsets the World Champions – While this is not that
big a shocker whenever you beat the Champs it is a big deal. The Saints have
not been their offensive juggernaut selves of late with or without Reggie Bush.
The Saints defense appears to be coming back to earth as well.
The Seahawks shock the Chargers – Norv Turner is doom. When
will the Chargers learn that as long as old mealy-mouth is on their sidelines
as the head coach they are destined to disappoint.
The rest of the Sunday that was…
Cincinnati sleeps through Carolina – Clausen’s debut was
less than eventful. He was not horrible but he did nothing notable either.
Pittsburgh lays waste to Tampa Bay – Who didn’t see that
coming?
Baltimore bests Cleveland – Cleveland made a game of it early
but Baltimore is just too strong.
New England survives a scare from Buffalo – The Bills racked
up 30 points against a young New England defense but they had no answers for
Moss and Brady.
Minnesota gets back on track versus the Lions – Adrian Peterson
is a beast and Farve is still 50-50. They are just not that good without some
decent wideouts.
Michael Vick continues the hot streak by torching the
Jaguars – Vick threw for 3 TDs and ran for one as the Eagles dismantled the
Jags.
The Broncos go cold in the red zone and the Colts prevail –
In a game my wife is still angry about (Broncos fan) Denver went cold on
multiple opportunities in the red zone which is normally bad, but lethal when
playing Peyton Manning and the Colts.
The Raiders lose a heart breaker to the Cardinals – If
I am Janikowski I would be looking in the help wanted ads today.
The Jets pull out a tough win against the Dolphins – Braylon
Edwards comes up big when the Jets needed him but Mark Sanchez is the story of
the game with 3 TDs. The Jets defense held the Miami Dolphins running game to
82 yards divided between Ronnie Brown and Ricky Williams.
